Jon Mackenzie is a singer and guitarist from Edinburgh who is getting ready to launch his first release as a solo artist. He previously played guitar in Scottish rock n roll band The Holy Ghosts, but has recently departed to focus on a different sound. Jon has a strong foundation as a guitar player, first taking up the instrument at eight years old after seeing Chuck Berry in concert. Since then, a variety of session work, bands and solo gigs have taken him around the world with the instrument. As 2017 begins, Jon has a fresh batch of new songs that are a completely new direction from anything hes done before. Psychedelic Scottish Folk Music is the term he has captioned for this new sound. The EP, Holidays on the Moon, due for release in April embodies this new approach with finger style guitar, trippy pedal steel, upright bass and beautiful west coast harmonies.
