Websters RETURNS for a special record release party out back!Webster‘s ragtime trio is a throwback to a style of music that went largely unrecorded. Around the turn-of-the-century, it is said that there was lots of string bands, i.e. mandolin, banjo, guitar, bow cello, playing the popular hits of the day including classic ragtime compositions like the Maple leaf rag. Although that type of music was composed for marching bands and solo piano performance, it is hard not to notice how joyful it sounds played on acoustic stringed instruments. And they don’t stop there, they more than dip their toes into ragged Texas Fiddle tunes from the 78 RPM era, even venturing across the pond to play the occasional archaic Polish mazurka, and/or striking up borderland polka Harkening back to the glory days of Tejas. Alexander Jones, Will Webster, and Westen Borghesi make up this fine trio.
