Germania Insurance Amphitheater is Austin's largest outdoor concert venue, a 14,000-plus seat amphitheater located in the infield of Circuit of the Americas out in Del Valle. The setting is unusual for a concert venue, surrounded by a Formula One racetrack rather than a downtown skyline, but it works. The open-air design means you get Texas sky above you and serious production on stage. The venue has hosted some of the biggest names in music, from Foo Fighters and Kendrick Lamar to Willie Nelson, Dave Matthews Band, and beyond. The sound system is built for a large outdoor space, and the production capabilities rival anything in the state. Seating ranges from close-to-stage reserved sections to general admission lawn areas where you can spread out a blanket and take in the show from a distance. The drive out to Del Valle is part of the experience, roughly twenty minutes from downtown depending on traffic. Parking is plentiful but plan to arrive early for big shows. Tailgating in the lot before a concert is a genuine tradition here. The venue also hosts events beyond music, taking advantage of the larger Circuit of the Americas complex. Germania Amphitheater fills the big-show gap in Austin's venue landscape, giving touring arena and amphitheater acts a proper outdoor stage in a market that has no shortage of demand.
