Parker Jazz Club
About the Venue

Parker Jazz Club is a basement jazz lounge at 117 West 4th Street in downtown Austin, opened in 2018 by Kris Kimura, an award-winning jazz vocalist and multi-instrumentalist who studied music at the University of North Texas and Texas State and spent over two decades as a fixture in the Central Texas jazz scene. The club is named after Kris's son Parker, and the space was literally designed and built by a musician for musicians. Every microphone, cable, speaker, and baffle was chosen specifically to serve the music, and it shows. The sound in the room is exceptional for its size, warm and detailed in a way that lets you hear every nuance of a live jazz performance. Parker Jazz Club hosts local, national, and international jazz acts, having brought in performers like Doug Lawrence, Louis Hayes, Tom Scott, and Herlin Riley, among many others. The room holds a modest crowd, which keeps the experience intimate and focused. This is a listening room in the best sense, a place where the audience comes to hear music and the performers know they have a room that was built to make them sound their best. In a city with a deep jazz tradition that sometimes gets overlooked in favor of rock and country, Parker Jazz Club provides a world-class space where the art form gets the respect and attention it deserves.
